Apartment Life :: Living Room Ideas
Hello to you this Friday morning. I have been dreaming for the past two nights of how I would decorate my living room. Normally I do nothing but sleep at night with the occasional feeding of my son. But lately I have been decorating in my sleep. Remarkable huh? I believe what started me on this is this lamp. I and my husband for that matter, really like this lamp we saw at HomeGoods. I can’t stop thinking about it, it’s funny I know but this lamp is always sitting in the back of my mind.

And fortunately it goes well with this couch from Ikea that we also agree on. Therefore there is a possibility for a beautiful living room where both my husband and I feel at home, so of course I would dream about it. But then there is the matter of price. The lamps are $50 a piece and the sofa is $879. Neither I nor my husband have ever spent that much for a lamp or a sofa so wanting to buy the three (two lamps) is a bit scary. But I have lately come to this conclusion. If I splurge on one or two, in this case three, items, I will have to save on the rest, which means DIY!!
That actually makes me more excited than buying a whole new living room. I get to learn how to reupholster my blue wing back chair and find furniture that needs a little love and give it a new updated life in my home. I can’t wait. I only wish that we could move in sooner.
Tell me how you felt when you started buying bigger priced items for you home.

That’s good news from your end! Let’s see, buying bigger priced items had been a pain in the wallet at first since it was a dining set that cost me more than my allotted budget… I have learned to never again go for more than you can afford and save up until I have the money for it.
I agree with you. My husband and I are determined to stay within budget, and anyways it’s not fun to decorate your home if you have to worry about paying the bills later.
